CURRENTLY, I'M QUILTING ON THIS...... AND ANOTHER BLOG HOP

BABY QUILT
with
ALABAMA THEME

Baby Hank

The blocks are 8 1/2" square
Sashing is 3" wide

How did I decide on those measurements?
Trial and Error and what looked good to my eye.
That's how I roll.  I RARELY follow a pattern.  Choosing the Fabric, Colors, Measurements, thread color, reminds me of coloring with crayons only I'm using Fabric.  Making my own patterns is much more fun for me.  Do you make your own patterns, buy quilt kits, or use a pattern?

It doesn't show up in the picture, but each FAMILY MEMBER  HAND PRINT and Elephant is zigzagged around the edges.

Why Houndstooth?
The FAMOUS COACH "BEAR" BRYANT, wore a houndstooth hat at every game.  Therefore, houndstooth is a MUST have with any Alabama University themed item.

                                      In The Ditch Quilting

TAMMY BAG OR STREP??? WHO WON???

I POSTPONE THIS BLOG HOP FOR MY RECENT BOUT
WITH
STREP...
I've been off the Grid most of last week.
AS of this morning at 10:00, this is what my Tammy Bag looked like...
Plum Pitiful as we say here in the South.

But I AROSE from the Ashes of the sorest throat in recent memory and NOW.....
As of 12:00 a.m my Tammy Bag
looks like This

Where is the Cross Stitching, you ask?

What little is completed....Here it is...pitiful isn't it?
(See my little red erasable dot for the center?  That was made 3 weeks ago)

I was getting back in the cross stitching Groove when...BAM...it HIT.
Baby Girl was with me Monday and she came down with Strep on Tuesday.  I got slammed on Wed.

I know what all you Go-Getters are thinking....Yes, I can read your minds...and You are Right.
If I hadn't waited so late to get started and planned for the unforseen emergencies that frequently occur at the last minute, I would have finished and been able to post my COMPLETED PROJECT.

JUST FYI:  My Dear Mother...God Rest Her Soul...used to give me that advice almost every day of my life.  Well, she's Gone to the Church Triumphant...I didn't heed her advice back then and more than likely will die of the affliction called PROCRASTINATION.
It's just the way the Gmama Rolls!

However, I am going to complete my project, make another Tammy Bag....probably 3 more since I have 3 more handles and show you my progress.

In the meantime, I want to Thank, Madame Samm, Brooke,  Cori, and ALL our Terrific sponsors for making the magic happen One More Time.

FYI:  I'm so Freakin' proud of myself for making that Tammy Bag I could Shout!!!  I have been scared to death to tackle the DARN THING even though the directions were excellent.  I tend to avoid hard things and I think this was the underlying issue of my procrastination.  Anyway, That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

I HOPE YOU HAVE VISITED MY COHORTS TODAY AND GIVEN THEM LOTS OF HUGS FOR ACTUALLY FINISHING THEIR PROJECTS.  I'M THE "BlACK SHEEP" OF THE GROUP.  BUT THEN, I MADE ALL THE OTHER LADIES LOOK SO FANTASTIC!

WHAT IS OLD IS NEW AGAIN....

CROSS STITCH

Unfinished Quilt Motif Cross Stitch  circa 1989

Who woulda thunk it?    CROSS STITCH is making a come back...in fact EMBROIDERY, CROSS STITCH, HAND WORK in general is finding it's place among those of us who love quilting.  SEW....I went searching....searching for all that cross stitching I had back in the 80's.  I even have a few pieces hung in the children's old rooms.  Pieces that I cross stitched about a Little Boy or a Little Girl with the obligatory Alphabet around the border and their names somewhere in the middle.  But alas, there are just so many frames you can hang on walls that change colors and style over the years.

Remember Country Blue and Mauve??  That famous color duo was found in every accessory, curtain panel, cross stitch pattern, carpet, wall paint, etc.  You name it and COUNTRY was the THEME with Country Blue and MAUVE (that pinkish purplish rose tinted color) as the Color Palet.

MY CROSS STITCH PATTERN BOOK COLLECTION

Once we had our walls covered with Cross Stitch Memorabilia the question became...WHY?  Why spend HOURS stitching another wall plaque?  There didn't seem to be more practical or useful ways of using our time intensive cross stitch pieces.

Fast Forward 2014.....2015
Designers are coming up with a plethora of unique ways to incorporate cross stitch projects into our Quilting and Stitching Projects.  In fact an upcoming Blog Hop sponsored by SEW WE QUILT and the fabulous Madame Samm, The Tammy Bag 4 all Seasons, demonstrates how quickly cross stitch patterns can be stitched up and sewn into a useful "catch all" bag.

Here is another Cross Stitch UFO circa 1986
