GARDEN BURN-OUT...SEWING ROOM, TAKE ME AWAAAAAAAY

GARDEN BURN-OUT
2014

SEWING ROOM TAKE ME AWAAAY !!
(This may take some time to load because of the video at the end)

Tomato Sauce

Veggies

Banana Peppers

The Garden had a mind of its own this summer but the end result was a pantry full of canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, squash pickle, marinated banana pepper rings (great on that Thanksgiving Turkey sandwich), grape jelly, blueberry jam, blackberry jam, blackberrries frozen, blueberries frozen, etc...

WHEW!!!

I am SEW ready to get back into my sewing room.  I have to admit to stealing some time for the
See You September Blog Hop
My Date is September 10th

I have some "inspirational projects, utilitarian projects, and some just plain fun to sew projects.  I have lots to show you now that I have more time to sew.  School is back in session around here so my babysitting duties are reduced and less garden chores.

RUSH HOUR Blog Hop
is coming up right after See You In September
My Day is SEPT. 29th

It's Peach Season in Alabama and I live 10 miles from a working commercial Peach Orchard.
Does that mean I'm obligated to "put up" peaches & Peach Jam???  Put Up being the southern term for canning and freezing.  There is a 1/2 bushel sitting in my kitchen...HELP!

OH NO, I forgot about APPLE SEASON
That same Peach Orchard is also a HUGE Apple Orchard.
Red Delicious, Rome, McIntosh, Golden Delicious, Jonagold, Pink Lady, Gala, Braeburn, Arkansas Black are just some of the apple varieties grown around here.

I am determined to get into my Sewing Room
Here are a few projects since May

Doll Quilt from Sharon Vroomsman
in Doll Quilt Swap
I made the fabric box

Last But Not Least
here is a video of my grandson James getting to be a Guest Chef at a restaurant in Birmingham, Alabama as part of his Magic Moments Dream Wish. He and the family just returned home from 7 days and nights in DisneyWorld. (I hope this video clip goes thru, if not let me know )

  5. All that canning take so much work but you'll certainly appreciate it come winter time. I wish I had time to do the same. Your Singer table looks exactly like the one I have that used to be my mom's.

  6. Envy you your garden...love seeing the fruit room filled with beautiful cans...the fruits of my labors!! If the video is a silent flip through some pictures, then it is working, otherwise, not so much. Harvest is a crazy time and sometimes you just have to take some time for yourself...and get a dehydrator!!!

  7. wow! What a great crop you had! I know it's hard work putting it all up (yes, we say that in Texas too, usually in the context of "I'm fixin' to put up some ......." :)
Your grandson is adorable! I'm so happy he has had some dreams fulfilled!!!

  8. Oh, my goodness, Jane, you've been busy! We did a lot of "putting up" last Summer, but this year's schedule was too busy to even plant a garden. Hopefully next year...

I'm so happy for the accomplishments of your family's little graduates. Our Little Man wore the mortarboard last week himself. (When did PREschool graduation become such a big deal? haha) I'm especially glad to see James' progress and granted wishes. What fun!

Thanks for stopping by tonight. I'm glad you're looking forward to reading Dirty Faith, and I hope you'll leave a review online when you're finished. Have a wonderful weekend!

  9. Jane I've never had banana ring pickles - sounds interesting. I don't get to can like you do but I love it. Jerry's not a gardener and the last couple of years I haven't had a gardening neighbor who shares. I buy some from the farmer's market but that's pretty costly. I'm almost through with my Rush Hour projects! No photos taken yet but soon. We're going to Colorado in mid September so I want to have my post uploaded and waiting before we leave. blessings, marlene
