QUILTERS ARE NICE PEOPLE
As I've been blog hopping in the Red White Blue Blog Hop, it occurred to me as I read through the comments left on each quilters blog site, that everyone received nothing but Praise, Encouragement, Pats on the Back, and a Big Ol dose of "You Go Girlfriend, Job Well Done!"
Regardless of each other's level of proficiency, every one was left feeling they had done a good job and their work appreciated. How many places can you go in a day and get 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, or
more"Atta Girls"? I doubt that many of us get that much validation in an entire year or even 10 years! I guess women and even some men have known about this mutual admiration society for a very long time,

I had a non-blogging quilting friend ask me about what I was working on in my latest quilting projects. When I told her I was making blocks for the RWB Blog hop she wondered if I didn't feel intimidated by all the * professional* quilters showing their work in the same blog hop? I admitted that I did feel that way in my first blog hop but it didn't take long for me to realize I was in the company of some of the nicest people ever! How many of us novice quilters can get appreciation for our quilting creations from an actual Quilt Designer like Amanda Murphy or such positive encouragement from an entrepreneurial spirit like Madame Samm anywhere else but in our on-line quilting community?
I don't know about you, but I'm a better quilter, more open to trying new techniques, and inspired to put my work out there for the world to enjoy (Not Judge) due to my associations with all of you. I've even made lifelong friends with other quilters and had my Faith strengthened through the prayers and kind words left in my comments/emails.

I'm so Grateful to know all of you who come here and leave comments!
Thank you for the joy you give to me each and every day!
You make the world a much kinder place for all of us!
Blessings

ReplyDeleteGrandma Jane, this was my first blog hop and I did feel a bit out of my comfort zone. But the support was huge and made it thru the day. I look forward to my next blog at the end of the month. Quilters are a treasures....Judith, Texas
ReplyDeleteVery nicely stated!
ReplyDeleteI agree with everything you have said. Have a terrific day!
ReplyDeleteYou said it sister. No one should feel intimidated. We are a great quiltin society, who loves to share and learn from each other!
ReplyDeleteI think you are absolutely correct!! They are nice and so very talented! This is my first hop and it has been so fun to see all of the creativity shared!!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean. It has been a wonderful experience for me too.
ReplyDeleteahhh Jane, you touched it right on the tip of all of our noses....lol. I was having this conversation this morning with someone from the industry, and he asked me why our blog hops do sew well and why do sew many people want to participate....and I said to him, I think it is because we really are cheerleaders for one another...we learn by sharing... In the early 70's I attended a conference where Dale Carnegie was a guest speaker...he said this quote...I have never forgotten it...
ReplyDelete"Did you ever see an unhappy horse? Did you ever see a bird that had the blues? One reason why birds and horses are not unhappy is because they are not trying to impress other birds and horses." I think we are all about sharing our talents with one another, we don't compete, we play well with one another...we become cheerleaders for one another....
YOU made my day~
Birds, Horses, and Quilters...what a happy bunch!!

ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better myself. Thank you for this beautiful post.
ReplyDeletewhat a great post!! I am still terrified to take part in the especially when I see all the amazing works of art next to my less than perfect creations..LOL Nonetheless I still take part for myself since I have fun and when people actually comment well is just makes my life that much better.
ReplyDeleteI do truly feel blessed to have come across such an amazing online community full of caring people just like you :)
I have also been very pleased for the hugh outpouring of wonderful, complimentary comments - encouraging the new quilter's and this being their first blog hop, they are so appreciative of any words of wisdom - isn't it our job as quilters to teach and encourage? I love when they reply back and say how much the "appreciate your praise." Wonderful post and right on. Judy C
ReplyDeleteWell said Jane I think quilters are all such sweet people and we appreciate anything that another quilter has put there creativity and effort into. I wish I felt well enough to participate because I certainly love them. Maybe next time. I have also met such special people like you Jane even though I don't blog. Hugs and blessings Sandra
