WE ARE...MARSHALL
is the cheer heard in the 2006 Movie by the same name.
Starring Matthew McConaughey, the movie tells the true story of the rebuilding of the football team after a tragic plane crash in Nov. 1970 that killed the entire team, boosters, and crew on a rainy West Virginia night.  My husband was one of the REAL football players recruited to rebuild the team.  We got to be consultants on the movie, be in crowd scenes, and attend movie premier.

Just for fun, I thought I would share a few Personal tid-bits happening here on The Farm.

NEW BABIES...
Meet * SI * our 7 wk. old Border Collie.
Having Si is like having a new baby in the house, round the clock feedings, playtime, naptime, discipline, chewing, chewing and MORE chewing..., crying, but most of all LOTS and LOTS of cuddles, licks, and puppy kisses.  Si came to live here at 4 wks. so he needed feeding every 4-5 hrs. and getting up Early for Potty time.  He is named after Uncle Si from the very funny show, Duck Dynasty (a family favorite here at the Farmhouse).
Look at that face!...Bestill my heart!

Meet Little Willie

Willie is less than 24 hrs. old in this picture.  He was born, Jan. 27th

Valentine's Day Memories

Vintage Children's Classroom Valentines Day Card
What is one of your childhood memories of Valentine's Day?
I remember quite vividly the Holiday each year in elementary school (Grades 1-6 for me) when we would decorate some type of *Mailbox* for the class to "Deliver" our Valentine cards.
Valentine

Some years the teacher had us decorate a brown or white paper bag and tape it to the Chalkboard Holder in front of the room.  MY favorite mailbox was the SHOEBOX decorated with a slit cut in the top for cards to slip through.  I got pretty fancy with mine, 3D elements, glitter, crayons (no markers back in the 50's), etc...Oh it was a Grand Creation to behold!!

The MOST fun however was sitting at my kitchen table while Mama washed dishes and I agonized over every Valentine card and WHO I should give it to.  After-all, such sentimental words could NOT be tossed about lightly.  Heaven forbid, if you gave the wrong boy the wrong card!!  You would be teased unmercifully till at least St. Patrick's Day.  I was sure that a *certain* Kenny had chosen that special Valentine I received in 5th grade.  It wasn't till I was grown that I learned his mother had chosen, signed, and sealed Kenny's Valentines and because my mother and Kenny's mother were good friends, she chose me for that SPECIAL Valentine's card.  The whole card couldn't have been bigger than a 2" x 4" piece of cardboard but to me it was grander than a diamond  ring from Kay Jewelers.  I was the center of attention during recess which made the whole event an "Affair to Remember".  The fact that Kenny never said a word to me the entire year mattered little...I had my Valentine to remember the day for a lifetime!

Jane + Kenny

Kenny is a wonderful husband and father to Karen, still lives in my hometown, and very active in his church and community.  We saw each other in 2011 at our 40th reunion, shared grandchildren pictures and recalled fun times.  Nope, he STILL does not know the Valentine story...he & Karen would get a huge laugh.  I'll leave it for another day.
Blessings
