FOR I KNOW THE PLANS I HAVE FOR YOU, DECLARES THE LORD...PLANS TO PROSPER YOU AND NOT TO HARM YOU...PLANS TO GIVE YOU A HOPE AND A FUTURE.

CURRENTLY, I'M QUILTING ON THIS...... AND ANOTHER BLOG HOP

BABY QUILT
with
ALABAMA THEME

Baby Hank

The blocks are 8 1/2" square
Sashing is 3" wide

How did I decide on those measurements?
Trial and Error and what looked good to my eye.
That's how I roll.  I RARELY follow a pattern.  Choosing the Fabric, Colors, Measurements, thread color, reminds me of coloring with crayons only I'm using Fabric.  Making my own patterns is much more fun for me.  Do you make your own patterns, buy quilt kits, or use a pattern?

It doesn't show up in the picture, but each FAMILY MEMBER  HAND PRINT and Elephant is zigzagged around the edges.

Why Houndstooth?
The FAMOUS COACH "BEAR" BRYANT, wore a houndstooth hat at every game.  Therefore, houndstooth is a MUST have with any Alabama University themed item.

  1. It's just delightful! I never buy kits, often following patterns, but adding my own spin to things. I suffer from the 'So Many Quilts, So Little Time Syndrome'.

    1. Oh, me too!! There just aren't enough hours in the day to fulfill my itch to stitch whether it be a quilt, embroidery, cross stitch, bags, doll quilts, table runners, etc....I could go on and on. Finding my sewing mojo has given me so much pleasure as I hope it has for you

  7. Funny story about Bear Bryant....my dad was walking on the beach on Padre Island many, many years ago. He ran into Bear who was also walking. As he passed my dad Bear said, "I like your hat." (Dad had on a baseball cap with his company logo on it) Dad said, "I like yours too." Bear said, "want to trade?" And they did. I understand Bear did that a lot. That hat now hangs in my son's office at school where he is a high school football coach. :) blessings, marlene
