A LITTLE DOLL QUILT SURPRISE

DOLL QUILT SWAP

AUGUST 2013

Here is what came in the mail on Wednesday

PLUS

Some extra Goodies inside

The BACK is just as cute

Now..it's my Turn

This is a sneak peak of the doll quilt I made for my swap partner.

I will show the whole quilt once she receives it!

I'm ALMOST...REALLY CLOSE..to

Finishing my commissioned

"Literacy Quilt"

I would never get rich if I depended on my quilting speed and abilities.  Geez, I'm slow.  it might help if I got it right the first time.  I ripped out the quilting TWICE because it didn't suit me.  I'm certainly not asking someone to pay for something I don't like myself.  I FINALLY found the pattern and thread I liked.  Then I spent most of my time fighting with my sewing machine.  My thread kept breaking due to tension issues and wrong needle choice.  Geez Louise...I NEED a new sewing machine in the worst way!

Well, it's Friday Night..Pizza Night...Jane doesn't cook night!  Tractor Man is back Coaching Football this season so I am once again  Friday Night widow unless it's a local/home game and then I go along with some of the family depending on their family schedules.  I've got some cute pics of Grandson James cheering with the High School Cheerleaders...adorable!  I'll share in a later post.

Until Then...............................................................................................................................

CAMP GRANDMAMA... END OF SUMMER...BACK TO SCHOOL

 SUMMER'S OVER

BACK TO SCHOOL

SUNNY DAY...SNEAK PEEK

This has been an unusual summer...very wet...no 100 degree days...just different.

I've spent a LOT of time putting up veggies from the garden and made jams/jellies from fruits growing on the farm.

Camp Grandmama & PaPaw2013

was a huge hit.  Every summer, the Grandpeeps spend the week before school starts at our house from 7:00-3:00.  From horse rides, 4 wheeler rides, water day with the sprinkler, relay races, crafts, baseball, to a picnic complete with fishing with PaPaw, Camp 2013 was memorable.  I've lost the fishing pictures but when I find them I will post.

Here are more pictures documenting my summer.

SCOTT SAYS BYE FOR NOW...

PRETTY SWEET SET-UP DON'T YOU THINK?  He was thinking he might want to stay with Grandmama rather than start school.  I would like to agree with him but Life does march forward and my babies grow up...BOO HOO

I'll be keeping another little boy, age 18 m., part time starting next week so I'm sure I'll have pictures of little H once I get his parent's approval.

Open the Gate...Come On In!!

A Closer Look

What you can't see from this photo is the beautiful cream colored moire fabric on which the ornaments are appliqued.

I took a Christmas Panel, added borders and...

Quilting...

and More Quilting...

VOILA

"QUILTS IN THE SNOW"

This table runner is going on the new Kitchen Table

Completed Pinwheel Table Runner

"CHRISTMAS CANDY"

Lots of Free Motion Quilting...

The backing is almost as pretty as the top!

I had to add a piece of Blue Christmas Fabric to make it fit.

I'm really in to making scrappy backs for large and small quilt projects.

Metal Office Clips did the job...

The afternoon sun gave the projects a nice *Christmas in July* sparkle.  Plus...the temps yesterday were very "fall like"

Don't worry...I left the latch unlocked just for YOU!!

Otherwise, it would be locked!!!

(Those of you who read my blog know about my robberies and issues with Fear.

More fencing will be going up in the spring)

I made this tea cozy today as a future gift

I even lined it.

Tissue Covers...These make terrific little stocking stuffers

Here is a good link to get you started on making your own

AN OLD FASHIONED QUILTING BEE

QUILTING BEE

WITH

THE SASSY SEWERS

Last Thursday, July 18th, 2013

Sassy Sewers had an Old-Fashioned

Quilting Bee

Don't we have a nice big, well-lighted room for quilting?  The county workers put up our tables and take them down plus, look at that full size kitchen in the back!  We have some great lunches out of that kitchen.

We are quilting Ellen's FIREHOUSE Quilt

Ellen's autistic Grandson LOVES, ADORES, Firehouses & Firemen

She began asking local Fire Dept.'s for a badge, word spread, and

now she has over 100 badges from all over the USA and some foreign countries.

We're hoping for more to make pillows and possibly curtains??!!

It was my very 1st Quilting Bee

Here I am...Gmama Jane (love those fat arms)

IF ANY OF YOU WOULD LIKE TO DONATE A FIRE DEPT. BADGE FOR OUR QUILT PROJECT, PLEASE EMAIL LET ME KNOW IN YOUR COMMENT AND I'LL SEND YOU MY MAILING ADDRESS

BLESSINGS

There are 10 more gallons of Tomatoes to pick and can...whew!

I'm 2 weeks behind quilting this quilt because of the those blasted Tomatoes!!!

(Notice my quilt frame is smack dab in the middle of my pretty new kitchen...best light, what can I say?  I just hope I don't have company before I finish this quilt or better yet, it gives me one more reason to turn my dining room into my new sewing studio.  Then I won't need to put my quilt frame in the kitchen at any time!!  My family is not a fan of my new plan to say the least.)

Any one else conflicted with summer chores or

activities and your quilting/sewing projects?
