GRANDMAMA IS BACK.. EMPTY NEST PART 2 NEW STORIES, NEW QUILT PROJECTS, GRANDPEEPS, ETC...

GMAMA JANE IS BACK
MARCH 27, 2016

Easter Sunday Morning
HE IS RISEN...HE IS RISEN INDEED

What a perfect time for starting fresh...in Life and in Blogging.  Since last October, I have been helping Mr. Tractor take care of his mother who suffered with Dementia and declining health.  At age 93, March 14, 2016 my sweet mother-in-law passed away surrounded by those of us who loved her and had cared for her.  She passed away as graciously as she lived her life.

Anyone who has ever been a caregiver knows what I mean when I say care-giving takes over your life.  In our case, we both cared for my mother for 11 yrs and then Mr. Tractor's (Roger) mother for 2-5 yrs.  We have actually been caregivers for over 20 yrs total.

Lately, I am even more aware just how short life truly is and want to live each day with purpose, love, and gratitude.  Therefore, my next phase...Empty Nest Part II as I am naming it ... will be lived, told, laughed/cried about and then written down as a way to leave a written legacy for my family.  Does that make sense?

I'm not sure who my readership will include, if anyone, but I promise to leave a little of myself in each post so that my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will KNOW who their Mother or Grandmother was as a person.  Since I've experienced loss of family and close friends in the last 6 months, I am only reminded of the brevity of life and the importance of making the most of each day.

Today, on this rainy Easter Sunday, I'm going to leave pictures of a few quilts and quilty projects in progress that I have put needle and thread to either by hand or machine.

BLESSINGS
Hope you will come back often and visit.
Leave me a note so I will know I still have some blog reading friends out there.

  1. We just got home after being away for Easter with family...Sorry to hear of your losses Jane, so many of us had to say goodbye to loved ones...the price we pay for loving so many I suppose.
Our hearts grow larger because of it , at least that is from my experience...I suppose yours will too. I sense through our losses we value every moment as it so fleeting, isn't it? So bless your heart for sending me a note...you touched my heart....always have, always will xx

  2. Of course you have blogging friends out in the world who look forward to your posts whenever they come. Yes, losing loved ones is rough and that has been the start of my year too. The new normal has begun. Your projects must all have stories to tell.

  4. You're right life is in phases. Enjoy each phase as it comes because you never know when it is the final phase for someone you love or your own final phase. My blog allows my granddaughter to see into my life and share my quilting even though she is far away.

  5. I'm so glad to hear that you are doing well. My thoughts go out to you and your family for what you've all gone thru lately. My mother passed 3 years ago after a long battle with dementia, so I understand the difficulty dealing with it. Looking forward to seeing more of you again!

  9. Sorry to hear of your loss dear Jane. My sister and I were caregivers for our mother for 10 years. We were blessed to be able to do so and I wouldn't go back and change anything we did. I believe that you have to love to really grow. Bless you and Tractor Man for all that you have done. Welcome back.

  11. Happy to see you back. We seem to spend so much of our life as caregivers. First for our children, then sometimes our grandchildren, then our grand parents (if we are lucky enough to have them, then finally our parents, and our significant others. I am sorry for your loss though.
