SUNDAY PRAYERS

SUNDAY PRAYER TIME TOGETHER

Today is the Day that the Lord Has Made!

It is a cold, rainy, blustery day here in North Alabama. My House is very quiet on this early Sunday morning.
I'm thinking of those of you who have prayed for Baby Max this past week.  Good News, Patricia sends us the following PRAISE!

1)Baby Max Update:
"48 hours after Max' open heart surgery and he is doing well.   He still has a long road ahead so if it is not too much to still request prayers, I would like to do so.
Is James and your daughter coming home this week?  I have been keeping them in my daily (sometimes several times daily) prayers, too."
love,
patricia  (We are STILL Praying, Patricia)

2) Jannette reports an exhausting week with her ailing mother and asks that we pray for strength. We love you Jannette

3) JAMES UPDATE:
James and his mother have ONE MORE WEEK of Therapy Boot Camp!  Whoo Hoo!  James has made astounding progress and here is a picture of him pushing a grocery cart.  This is a HUGE accomplishment so let me hear CLAPPING!!
 James pushing a Grocery Cart

4) How many of you have faced a storm this week?  Or perhaps are anticipating a storm to pass your way?

My God is an Awesome God and can meet your every need.

Also, I noticed something yesterday that may or may not have anything to do with Prayer Request Sunday but over the past 2 weeks, I've lost 5 followers.  Just like that...and it made me wonder if somehow Prayer Request Sunday had offended someone?  I don't plan to stop Prayer Request Sunday because I don't blog for popularity.  I do, however, want to be sensitive to those who have chosen to take the time to read my blog. I am human after all so when I look at that "number" it makes me sit up and take notice.  It also makes
me painfully aware of a need most of us have and that is the need to be liked.  I admit it...I want you to like me.  I don't however, want to be someone I'm not just to make people "like" me.  After all, we are a bit past High School, aren't we?

The people who count the most are my family.  Am I doing everything I need to be doing to meet the needs of my family.  My role has changed over the years as have the needs of my growing family.  Grandchildren are now my primary focus although my adult children still seem to "need" their Mama.  I've retired the "yellow hairbrush" that meted out correction from time to time.  No more "grounding" or taking away the car keys.  Now, I spend much more time in PRAYER for my family because prayer is my main source of guidance these days.  Prayer SHOULD have been my main source all the time but time, age, and wisdom have taught me that sage advice.

So...I will continue Prayer Request Sundays until I feel led to do otherwise.  If you have any comments on my thoughts I'd love to hear them.  Continue to send me your prayer needs and I will covenant with you to pray.

  1. Jane I don't know if you've lost followers because of your Sunday post or not - but if you have then you've made a sacrifice for the Lord and that's never a bad thing. Intercessory prayer was modeled for us by Jesus himself and is a gift given to us...one we can pass on. Keep up the good work. blessings, marlene
P.S. I might suggest that you take the word verification process off your blog. I've quit following some blogs because they have it on - it's gotten so hard to read since Google changed that I often have to try 3 or 4 times before my comment will be accepted. I don't have a problem with spam but if you do you could change to the "approve before posting" part of comment settings.

    1. Thank you Marlene, I thought I had the word verification OFF. Didn't know it was activated. I HATE those things. So glad you told me! I hope I can fix it. If it's not gone in a day please let me know.
      Blessings
      Jane

  2. I am sorry to hear that you have lost a few followers. If someone was not interested in prayer request Sunday, I would think they would just opt not to read your posts on Sunday, not stop following. I have read on some other blogs about people limiting their time spent reading blogs. Regardless, I cannot imagine someone not loving your blog. Even if PRS did not benefit my friend's family, I would still read it and respond to it with prayers. I think it is a fabulous, purposeful idea and I thank you.

  4. You know, you tell us ahead of time that it is a prayer day, people have the choice to read it or not. just sayin! I'm still here!! :) And asking for prayer for my Aunt and her family! Aunt Rita (who is my Mother's oldest sister and more like my grandmother because of the 17 yr difference in their age) called and they are having a very tough time! Rita (81) is going in for Kidney stone surgery, her husband Bob (85) had tumors removed from his bladder on Friday and is still healing, a grandaughter Jennifer (who is the same age as me and has two small kids) has a brain tumor, she had a biopsy on the 14th and we are awaiting results. Last and not least another grandaughter, Courtney (Miracle, yup her last name!!!) has anounced she is expecting a Miracle! She has had FIVE miscarrages in three years and is now eight weeks pregnant! She and Chett SOOOO want a family!
I know there is a LOT in there, but please pray for them!! They are such amazing people!!

  5. Oh Jane. Keep on keeping on. You wear the purple hat so well. It is a free country and people are free to choose. I am choosing to stay my friend. I have NEVER heard of prayer hurting anyone. The prayers for Max and James have not hurt. They tell their families as well that they are not alone, that others care. God hears, and he chooses his response. I am so happy to hear that Max and James are doing well. I pray for Janette and her mom. Strength and comfort. Adding Josies family to my prayers.

  6. I wouldn't worry to much about people choosing to stop following they were likely people that didn't spend much time reading your blog anyhow and didn't leave for any good reason :)

I'll be sending my prayers up for everyone today!

  7. Hey Jane, I also know that some bloggers who use blog formats other than blogspot, have done away with their GFC widgets in anticipation of March 1 -- that's probably the more likely explanation. No need to post this, but Joc and I sure would appreciate your prayers this week as we come up on the one year anniversary of the loss of Everett. I missed you at the guild meeting Thursday ... I thought for sure you'd be there! Hugs. :)

  8. James is doing great! Glad to hear Max is making progress too.
I wouldn't worry about numbers of followers. There may be people out there who blog to get followers but I don't see that as the reason behind your posts. Keep on being true to your faith and what matters to you.

  10. Jane I love your Sunday Prayer Requests if you lost them for that reason then no loss. I am afraid people don't pray enough and I know having people pray for my daughter so many times has certainly helped her. I sent James some prayers and blessing today and I will send up a prayer for little baby Max.
I had my son Scott and grandson Konnor here for the day and really enjoyed the day with them. I don't see them enough my son works such long hours. Will talk to you soon. Love and blessings Sandra

  11. Jane, I was surprised when you started your Prayer Request Sunday post. I follow quilt blogs, not "church" blogs, but I love the way you praise God with your faithfulness. You are a Blessing to all of us who have found your blog! If a person didn't want to read your Sunday posts because of thier content it would be easy to skip over that days post. If they choose to not read any of your posts it is sad for them...I'll keep them in my prayers. God knows who they are, we don't have to. I'm hoping they've stopped for another reason. Maybe they decided to pare down their daily reading list. I know I need to. I'm mostly a lurker. I pop in and read the blogs I follow daily, but of recent I don't comment much. I have been praying for James, Max, and the others, sometimes by name and sometimes my brain just can't remember, so I pray for the others on Grandma Jane's list. He knows who they are. Blessings to you and YAAAAHHHH! for James and his devoted mother.

  12. Jane always be true to yourself. No matter what. Don't worry about what others may think. You certainly aren't trying to change if/what others believe or practice, you are asking for prayers from those that pray. I see nothing wrong with that.

I'm glad Max and James are doing well. And Janette I will keep you in my thoughts.

  13. I look forward to your Sunday posts. It seems like another way to honor God on His day
By praying for one another. Thank you for faithfully doing what God has
    Placed in your heart.
    Standing by you,
    Gramma Sheri

  15. I appreciate Prayer Request Sundays, and I'm so thankful that we're seeing blessings as a result of people praying for those requests.
It's with great joy that I can let you know that my mom has had a much better week, and actually was allowed to go home from the hospital, less than 2 weeks after we thought we were going to lose her! Barring a miracle, she doesn't have long to live, but she's fully confident that "her room is ready", and she's ready to go!
Thank you to everyone that has prayed for us - we've been strengthened and encouraged!
