FRIENDS VS. FRIENDSHIP

 FRIENDS VS. FRIENDSHIP

In today's social media frenzied world, we are often judged by how many "Friends" we have on Facebook ,or Followers on our Blog or Twitter, and those are just the ones I know about!  Heaven only knows what other types of social media  is out there that I have no earthly idea about such as dating sites.  Thank goodness, I'm not looking for a companion...the one I've had for 40 yrs will suffice, thank you very much.  I've heard there are sites for those looking to have an affair...Lord have Mercy is what my mother used to say.

Anyhoo, REAL FRIENDS, are even more valuable today than ever.  HOWEVER, I must admit I've got to eat some crow.  Yes, it's not fun but I was actually WRONG once in my life.  Wrong, when I made fun of people who "met" people On-Line and even married people they had never met in person.  How on earth, could you get to know someone and develop a true friendship via the Internet???  Why that was not only dangerous but simply not done in polite society...........WELL.......I was WRONG.

ALONG CAME YOU....AND YOU...AND YOU...AND SAMM... AND SANDRA...AND MARLENE....AND TERESA....AND PATRICIA....AND JANE....AND CAROL...AND LESLEY...AND JULIE....AND GENE...AND SHARON...AND JOHNA'LEE...AND DENISE....AND ON AND ON AND ON AND ON...........WELL YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!

Last week was a particularly rough week and I was having a particularly bad day...a real pity party if you will.

I got a ticket on my way home from a Dr.'s appointment

I ran out of gas, lost my cell phone, and had to walk to the nearest store to call for rescue

I had not had my morning cuppa

and
most of all, I was worried over my grandson's latest EEG report
confirming SEIZURES at the rate of 1-2 per 5 SECONDS

LOOK AT THAT SMILE!!
YES,
You read that correctly
1-2 seizures per second.
Now, these seizures are not recognizable by the usual seizure activity.  His dramatic change in behavior both at home and at school did not bypass the radar of my ever diligent daughter who took him to the Pediatrician, who ordered the EEG to simply RULE OUT Nocturnal Seizures.
Guess what?
It was indeed Seizures causing the behaviors, the symptom free vomiting at night, super sensitivity to loud sounds, Thunderstorms, unexplained BM's after being potty trained for 2 yrs., etc...

BUT THEN...RING...RING...RING....
A PHONE CALL FROM CANADA?
COULD ONLY BE 1 OF 2 PEOPLE AND...... IT WAS
SANDRA D.

One of THOSE ON-LINE  FRIENDS I met about 3 yrs. ago via this blog.  Sandra was just calling to see how I was because she had read on my FB page the news about my grandson's seizure diagnosis and knew I had to be worried and might need a friendly word of encouragement!!
MIGHT need a word of encouragement???  That may be the year's biggest understatement!

THAT, MY DEAR BLOGGING FOLLOWERS/FRIENDS
 IS FRIENDSHIP,
the REAL kind, the TRUE kind,,,,
And we've never even met!?  Maybe not physically met, but we've met via our Hearts!
YEP, you CAN meet people on-line and become more than "Friends"  more like
Heart to Heart Friends.

FRIENDSHIP
can be found in the most unusual places.  My Blog is proof enough for me that the world is still filled with GOOD people despite what we hear on the news.  I began blogging on a dare from my daughter and thought I would simply share some family stories, MAYBE show a few quilting pieces and go about my merry way.  HA!!  Did I ever have to
EAT CROW.

It only took ONE phone call from a FRIEND to convince me!

THANK YOU SANDRA D. IN CANADA!!!

Blessings

GMAMA

  5. Oh no! Is this his first bout with seizures!? What mess are they suggesting? Lil is on 3 different and it took a while to find the right combination. Prayers that they come up with a successful treatment plan! Must know it sometimes is trial and error!

  6. Very well written! And true....I had a hard summer with my daughter and people who I have never met in real life, were there for me. Praying for her and for me. It is humbling and a joy to know that we can be friends and have never met.

Please keep us posted on your darling, precious James. Hugs to you and your family....

  8. This is so true. I have a bunch of great friends who I have not yet met in person and they are just as precious to me as the others. Although you had a really rough day, I'm glad that Sandra helped to lift your spirits and remind you that there really are good people still in this world.

  10. Friends come to us in strange ways sometimes Jane, but they are no less real. When I lose touch with blog friends it makes me sad but, thankfully, that happens rarely. One of the nice about blog friends is that no matter where you might move they are still there! Blessings, M
