BUILD IT AND THEY WILL COME
Yes,
believe it or not,
YOU can start your OWN
Quilting, Sewing, Stitching Circle of Friends
I am a member of
Heritage Quilters of Huntsville
But, I needed more...
a SMALL group of Stitching Minded Ladies
to meet with on a regular basis.
NO, Not These Ladies
You Know, More Like This
Women all over the world need Stitching Friends..!
Quilting Bees were the Social Center
of a Community.
But Community is Different Nowadays
People move, retire, relocate, and often we don't know our own neighbors much less meet together for coffee or sewing.
WHAT TO DO?
FORM YOUR OWN!
I had been Whining Discussing with #1 Husband
about wanting a few lady friends to quilt with and you know what he said? Make your OWN group...
well, how on earth do I do that? I don't know who likes to sew/quilt?
Of Course!
AND
I USED THESE TWO FORMS
OF "
"GETTING OUT THE WORD"
AND SAID......
"Would you like to meet with other Quilters or other Stitching friends on a regular basis? Do you already quilt? Do you want to learn to quilt? A local group of ladies are forming a Stitching/Quilting Group to meet on a regular basis? All skill levels welcome! Please come to our organizational meeting (state time, date, location, directions) For further information please email (insert name, email, or FB info)
THAT WAS LAST AUGUST
BY SEPTEMBER WE HAD OUR FIRST MEETING
10 LADIES SHOWED UP!
FAST FORWARD
TO
APRIL, 2013
MEET
SASSY SEWERS
We meet the 1st and 3rd Thursday of every month in a large local community room (Dist. County Shed/Road Commission/Polling Place), free of charge, complete with full service kitchen, tables (the local road crew guys set up and take down our tables!) lots of electrical outlets, and storage space for our supplies.
The group has a total of about 12-15 members but a solid core of 8-9 ladies who come all the time (unless vacationing, sick, surgery, family illness, etc). Most of these ladies never knew each other before last Sept. and we are now a full blown sisterhood!
Yes, indeed, THE BEST THING, I've done since retiring in Dec. 2008.
Not only do we Stitch, but we EAT well. It has become quite the CENTER of discussion as to what our next meeting's menu will be...we have some fantastic cooks!
SEW, You See...
YOU can do it too!
Don't sit around wishing you had some friends to sew with...
MAKE YOUR OWN
THEY WILL COME
RIGHT, SASSY SEWERS?

BLESSINGS
I sure could use one of those too... I get lonely sometimes when I'm the only one quilting and there is no one around to share with... or talk to about advice. Plus, it would force me to sew more often!
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for bloggers and the internet, it's the only way I have to converse and share with others. That's great that your eforts gained so much for you and your group :)
ReplyDeleteI have been seriously thinking about doing this myself! Thanks for sharing about your group. =)
ReplyDeleteIt's a small world after all.......
ReplyDeleteSo very thankful for my blogging sewing family and friends as for the moment they are my sewing group.
However, I do see the advantage of a more local group....so....with that in mind I may be boring some of your set up guidlines in the future.
